On The Brink - Chapter 1

Let's feed the terrorists one of these babies, maybe they'll shut the fuck up then

Someone give me a reason to withdraw our troops from Iraq, other than
1. To save the lives of troops

In the American Heratige Dictionary, the definition of a soldier is: One who serves in an army. The definition of army is: A large body of people organized and trained for land warfare. The definition of warfare is: The waging of war against an enemy; armed conflict. The definition of conflict is: A state of open, often prolonged fighting; a battle or war. The definition of fight is: To attempt to harm or gain power over an adversary by blows or with weapons. The definition of harm is: Physical or psychological injury or damage; Wrong; evil.

Make like a kindergartner and connect the dots. Yes, our soldiers risk their lives everyday, yes, they die. But you certainly can't question what they're doing in Iraq. They're making peoples' lives better. If you're a simple minded cretin, it might occur to you that all the media attention is posed on the negative aspects of Iraq, that all the biased media is focused on is the anti-American Muslim fanatics, the people in Iraq shouting "Death to America", the ones who burn American flags and effigies of President Bush. If you're a simple minded cretin you won't see the people in Iraq who are grateful we have toppled down Saddam's GENOCIDAL regime, that we are restructuring their government in a far more efficient way than a dictatorship, that we are making the world a better place to live, that we are trying prevent Iraqi's future generations from the hardships they're going through, that we're making progress. Progress, slowly, but surely.

This war was supposed to take time. I know Bush made some stupid remarks saying "mission accomplished" and other shit like that, but if you honestly think we can singlehandedly overpower and totally restructure a nation in a couple of years, you must have angel dust mixed in with your Wheaties. Don't be a fool. All wars take time.

If our troops leave now, you know what's going to happen? Let me create the scene for you:

The under-trained ragtag group that is the Iraqi military and police force will be quickly overcome by hidden Saddam sympathizers and terrorists cells. Hidden among the populace, hidden in the hills, caves, and spider holes, hidden wherever they can manage, until America withdraws all its troops, or at least enough to gain a tactical advantage. Members of Saddam's former regime, hidden as well, will emerge in force, as their time has come. The troops we have, coupled with a sorry excuse for an Iraqi army, would be able to hold them off, but will be overwhelmed in a few weeks time. At that time the American people, especially those who were previously so anti-war, will beg President Bush to re-insert our troops back into Iraq, but he will deny those requests because he doesn't want the whole cycle to begin all over again. He will withdraw all our troops from Iraq, leaving the Iraqis to fend for themselves. You anti-government fuckball pieces of shit out there want to see anarchy? It will ensue, with thousands being slaughtered at the hands of the new regime, while we watch on CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC.

Don't doubt that former members of Saddam's regime will show up if we leave. They're just waiting, being as patient as a sniper on his prey. The same thing happened in Somalia under the Clinton administration. Peace was restored to the chaotic region when our troops and the UN arrived, but after the UN, the only authoritative force, withdrew, the shit hit the fan. I'm sure you've seen Blackhawk Down; the setting of the movie is after the UN leaves.

If our troops withdraw now, Iraq is FUCKED. Not a girlfriend-boyfriend pre-marital fuck, not a drunken-one-night-stand-never-see-em-again-slam-bang-thank-you-ma'am fuck, not even a gay sex assfuck. Iraq would be a new, fresh meat prisoner in a maximum security prison, taking a shower, surrounded by convicts with life sentences, with their soap dropping. If America abandons Iraq, Iraq is going to be gangbanged, and hard. They won't even see what's coming, and a new, entirely terroristic NATION will be born.

You think it's bad enough that terrorists can drive car bombs into markets and checkpoints, and bring them into subways. Imagine if terrorists took over an entire country. Had the ways and means to propogandize its people and surrounding states, bringing even more to their cause. The scope of terrorism would evolve to a state we would never have even though of, and the newly-popularized phrase "We are not afraid" would become obsolete.

The only good thing about Saddam is that he was smart. He was wise enough to realize that if he took drastic actions against America, for example, launching a nuclear missile or chemical weapons at us, he would condemn his entire country to being wiped off the map from one of our ICBMs. With no country to rule over, what good would he be? But if we withdraw from Iraq, a new, younger, more radical leader may arise from the ashes, and with a fanatical, gung-ho, Jihad-filled mind, who knows what kind of actions they might take? World War III is a certain possibility, with the end of the world trailing a close second.

Do we want to be remembered again as a country who didn't finish what they started, who gave up halfway through? We already did that in Vietnam, though we tend to forget that part quite conveniently. The difference between Vietnam and Iraq is that now we have the tactical advantage. Don't you think we owe it to the people of Iraq to show we are committed to completing our mission? I know we look pretty crappy in the eyes of other nations, but how would we look if we leave Iraq to an apocalyptic fate? That we left a whole country to die? That we stopped helping people because we were cowards? "We are not afraid" my ass.

WE HAVE TO FINISH WHAT WE STARTED, OTHERWISE ALL THAT WHICH OUR TROOPS HAVE DIED FOR WILL BE FOR NOTHING AND WILL BE FORSAKEN. THE PAST FOUR YEARS WOULD HAVE BEEN WASTED, AND ALL THE MONEY AND RESOURCES WE HAVE PUT TOWARDS IRAQ WILL HAVE BEEN GOOD FOR NOTHING.

As I stated it all before, the Iraqi police force is far from prepared to simply keep the peace and order in Iraq, let alone control it. Sure they can hold checkpoints and check IDs, sure they can stage some minor raids. It doesn't mean shit. The missions they've done are on a small scale, and usually supported by American troops. If we leave and expect them to do what they're supposed to do... well, let's just say that the National Rifle Association could work the beat better.

Think of Iraq as our child. A lot of the time they don't like what you're doing for them; they complain and nag and cry that what you're doing for them is wrong, even if it is for the better. For a kid to truly grow up the right way you have to be there for them, you have to nurture them. You have to see their pop warner football games, have to see their school plays, and at times, scold them. But if a parent walks out on a kid and leaves them to fend for themselves, well that my friend, is an injustice, that most of the time leaves the kid scarred for life, with nothing but limitless odium and the utmost contempt for that parent.
